About High-Speed Charging and Other Market Opportunities

Q. Is AccelRate’s technology commercially available for applications other than the motive power industry?
A. AccelRate has currently developed and marketed its patented technology for the motive power industry. It is also seeking to establish its corporate identity in the communications, transportation, power tools and military industries, among others.
Q. What are the benefits of using AccelRate’s technology in the communications, transportation, power tools and military markets?

A. Communications: Almost every portable computer and cellular phone carries a battery pack as well as a charger. The miniaturization of these devices and the introduction of enhanced cellular capabilities, have forced manufacturers to focus on boosting product power and reducing their size. As consumers continue to make small, portable electronic devices part of their daily lives, they are increasingly requiring compact battery chargers to restore power quickly to miniature batteries.

Transportation: Concern with carbon emissions, especially in the U.S., has resulted in numerous government programs to prevent further pollution through battery powered products such as electric vehicles. The range of applications for electric vehicles today is extensive, including automobiles (either pure battery electric or hybrid electric vehicles), golf carts, neighborhood electric vehicles, airport ground support equipment, recreational vehicles, electric bicycles, scooters and marine. Many of these offer non-polluting alternatives to incumbent technology, but the long recharge time has often been a deterrent. By significantly shortening the time necessary to recharge these vehicles, the AccelRate charger can increase their attractiveness. In marine applications, more and larger on-board electric appliances can rapidly drain the bank of batteries in RVs and yachts, resulting in lengthy charge cycles running a noisy generator. Rapid charging will reduce generator run-time and increase enjoyment of the vessel.

Power Tools: As cordless tools increase in power and capability, they are more frequently used by professional trades-people. Unfortunately, heavy use can easily discharge a battery in less time than it can be charged, necessitating multiple expensive batteries and even multiple chargers. Using AccelRate technology, recharge would be reduced to a few minutes, permitting the user to continue working with faster battery changes.

Military: The military market has critical power needs, with batteries being an important element of many portable systems such as communications sets, night-vision devices, and sensors for training and combat. Using batteries and AccelRate’s charger could save tremendous operation and support dollars.
